Thomas Sjögren at Ulkeröds Gård
For 9 March, our head chef, Jonas Blomstervall, has invited Thomas Sjögren to Ekbacken Restaurant at Ulkeröds Gård. During the evening you can enjoy a six-course menu put together by Thomas. Thomas Sjögren was born on 30 March 1991 and grew up in Granö, Umeå. Thomas is active in Smögen and runs Skärets Krog, Skärets Café and the newly opened local restaurant Grano in Gothenburg. Thomas has experience from restaurants such as Swedish Taste, 28+ and Thörnströms Privata Rum in Gothenburg. In addition to Årets Kock [Chef of the Year] 2015, Thomas was runner-up in the Nordic Chef of the Year competition and won a silver medal in the 2014 Culinary World Cup junior competition. He was also crowned the winner of the Swedish TV cookery competition Kockarnas kamp in 2018. What characterises Thomas Sjögren as a chef is his simple but well-cooked food with unexpected flavours and his ability to put a slightly unexpected twist on dishes. Thomas tries to create a twist that makes the food extra interesting and which you’ll notice when eating. It is always based on the ingredients, with an emphasis on finding high quality ingredients. Speaking of ingredients, algae fascinates Thomas and he thinks we should use more of it in our cooking. There are so many different kinds, and he believes that each one has its own charm. The kitchen is open on Saturday 9 March from 18.00 to 21.00 Price: SEK 825 excluding drinks
