At Ulkeröds Gård, sustainability is not a side project – it is an inherent part of how we live and run the farm.
This is about balance.
Between nature and man.
Between what we take – and what we give back.
We want to create a place that works today, but also for generations to come.
Renewable energy – our own solar power
Since 2021, the farm has been largely powered by self-produced energy.
Our solar cell system produces approximately 335,000 kWh per year – which corresponds to our annual electricity consumption.
This means that much of what you experience with us – from your hotel stay to dinner in the restaurant – is powered by energy from the sun.
Travel sustainably – charge with us
We want to make it easy to choose the right one.
We have charging stations for electric cars and hybrids - perfect when you visit the restaurant, stay at the hotel or stop by the farm shop.
A living landscape
Our agriculture is based on cycles and respect for nature.
The animals on the farm are a natural part of the landscape:
- Lamb (Texel and Gotland)
- Highland Cattle
- Fallow deer in the enclosure
- Linder's eye pigs
- In 2026 we will start egg production
They graze the lands, keep the landscape open and contribute to a rich biodiversity.
Our Highland Cattle in particular play an important role in preserving natural pastures – something that is crucial for a vibrant agricultural landscape.
Nature and wildlife conservation
We work actively to create good conditions for animals and nature to thrive.
On the farm we have, among other things:
- Constructed wetlands that capture nutrients
- Created game fields
- Set up birdhouses and insect hotels
- Worked with supplementary feeding during winter
This creates habitats for birds, insects and wildlife – and contributes to a richer ecosystem.
From farm to table
At Restaurang Ekbacken, sustainability is something you can taste.
We work with raw materials from the farm and the surrounding area:
- Meat with full traceability
- Short transports
- Natural ingredients without unnecessary additives
Game meat is also one of the most climate-smart options – natural, nutritious and full of flavor.
Sustainable housing
As a guest at our farm hotel, you are part of the whole.
Small choices make a big difference:
- Reusing towels
- Sorting waste
- Showing concern for water and resources
Together we reduce our impact.
Responsible activities
Our activities are also adapted to take nature into account.
At Ulkeröd Wingshooting Club we use:
- Steel ammunition
- Eco-friendly clay pigeons
All to minimize impact while maintaining a high quality of experience.
