Spring festival in Bohuslän

In collaboration with the Tourist Council of Western Sweden and the Bohusläns Temaveckor project, we at Ulkeröds Gård focus on culture and food!

Now spring is knocking on the door and as we have been longing for! Together with Promotion we invite you to Spring festival in Bohuslän with an art exhibition at Ulkeröds Loge. The Stenungsund-based company Phromotion, which specializes in art exhibitions, mainly with glass but also other exciting materials, is exhibiting works of art from the world-renowned glass artist Bertil Vallien and the contemporary artist from Värmland John LundqvistRead more about the artists further down the page!

ART EXHIBITION, BAR AND SHOP

Opening hours art exhibition at Logen April 17 – April 26:
Friday at 14.00-18.00
Saturday at 11.00-18.00
Sunday 11.00-15.00 pm

The exhibition has free admission.

During the exhibition's opening hours, The lodge's bar open where you can enjoy a good drink while you look at the exhibition and mingle. Also The farm shop, which is located right next door, is open during all exhibition times and offers both pleasant shopping and the opportunity to buy coffee.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION

Every day it is possible to book our Farm lunch which is served from 12:00 at restaurant Ekbacken – a two-course menu consisting of a starter and main course, and which ends with a homemade chocolate truffle.

In the evenings, an exclusive tasting menu in a total of 6 servings at restaurant Ekbacken – a culinary experience with spring's first fruits in focus! Of course, there is a drink package designed to match the menu's spring flavors – for those who want to enhance the taste journey even further.

Choose between coming just for the art exhibition, or to also include lunch or dinner, or for a complete experience with an overnight stay at The farm hotel:

Farm lunch – Price: 345 SEK
Replenish your reserves with a hearty lunch during the day – either before you head to the art exhibition or to end your visit. The farm lunch is served from 12:00.

Tasting menu spring party – Price: 895 SEK
You are welcome to Logen before dinner for a little mingling and to enjoy the art. The tasting menu will then be served from 6:00 PM at restaurant Ekbacken.

Hotel package spring party– Price: SEK 2,495
A complete experience in the spirit of spring! Includes welcome coffee, a glass of bubbly at the exhibition, a 6-course tasting menu, overnight stay in a double room at our farm hotel and breakfast the following day.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Bertil Vallien is a Swedish artist, designer and glass artist who is today considered one of the world's most significant in contemporary glass art.

Vallien was educated at Konstfack in Stockholm where he studied ceramics and art, and after studying in the USA he joined Kosta Boda in Småland in 1963 – a partnership that would be long-lasting and crucial for both his own artistry and for classic Swedish glassmaking.

He is particularly known for his sand-cast glass sculptures, often with motifs such as vessels, boats and heads, which through their shape, colour and mysterious character create suggestive, almost dreamlike expressions.

During his long career, Vallien has had exhibitions all over the world, and his works are represented in many prestigious collections and museums in Sweden and internationally.

For Kosta Boda, he has had an invaluable impact, not only through his own iconic works but also as an inspiration for generations of designers and glass artists..

John Lundqvist is a contemporary Swedish artist based in Värmland, especially active in Forshaga and the surrounding area. He has been working with painting for over 30 years and is known for his large, expressive works with a sense of fabulous light and rawness that speaks directly to the viewer.

Lundqvist works in various techniques, with watercolor being his main means of expression, but he also experiments with gouache, oil and unusual surfaces for his painting.

One of his most notable techniques is painting directly onto rag rugs, giving this traditional everyday item new life as an artistic canvas. By coloring and processing the rugs, he creates large, evocative paintings that combine the expression of painting with the structure of the textile.

Lundqvist's art has been shown in exhibitions and vernissages, where his carpet paintings often arouse curiosity and fascination for how materials and motifs interact.
