At Ulkeröds Gård, we carry out lamb production with a focus on autumn lambs. This means that the lambs are born during March-April inside our sheep house and grow up outside in our pastures and are then slaughtered during July-September. Our sheep breeds are Texel and Gotland.
Texel sheep - the best meat breed
In our restaurant we only serve meat from our Texella lambs. The cutting details from Texellamm are hard to beat with deep chops, large inner fillets, fine steaks and well-filled bows. The Texel meat is well marbled and has a mild taste that is appreciated by most people. The breed came in the 1800th century and originates from the island of Texel on the Dutch coast.
Gotland sheep – the best fur breed
Our purebred fur sheep are good shedders and produce very beautiful fur skins. The Gotland sheep originates from the Gotland sheep. Through selection for size and fur quality, the Gotland sheep has developed into a good breed for leather production.
The farm's own lambs
All our lambs are mainly raised on milk from the ewe and pasture in the pastures around the farm. Sheep are known as "bush and sly removers", which means that they help in a very good way to keep Sweden's landscapes open. They are also relatively picky in their choice of pasture on dykes. We work the soil regularly and make sure to sow the special plants and herbs that the sheep love. Our lambs graze, among other things, cumin, mustard, white clover and black champignons. This naturally also gives the meat a very good taste!
The farm shop
Here we offer sheep and lamb skins, sheep and lamb sausages, smoked meat from sheep and lamb and lamb.
