At Ulkeröds Gård, we care about our environment and we are constantly creating more and more knowledge about how to leave as small a climate footprint as possible.
We work hard to be at the forefront as a sustainable destination. We want to offer our guests memorable experiences without skimping on consideration for our nature, environment and climate, and therefore have active environmental work in all our areas of operation.
Charging posts
We make it easy for you who have an electric car or plug-in hybrid car.
Here at Ulkeröds Gård, you can charge your car when you visit us at our restaurant or stay at our farm hotel.
Solar cell plant
A very large part of our electricity comes from our solar park. The solar plant supplies the farm with 335 kW of electricity, our annual consumption. The plant was completed and put into operation in June 000.
Agriculture and forestry
In our agriculture, we raise lambs, the Texel and Gotland breeds, and cattle of the Highland Cattle breed. Our sheep and lambs go out to graze all summer and refine grass into meat, hides and wool.
Highland Cattle are great grazing animals for natural pastures, and they go out all year round. Our animals are important to meet the environmental quality goals "A rich agricultural landscape".
In this way, we manage our meadows and pastures so that we preserve their value and biological diversity. The result will also be a Living Farm and a Living Countryside with a beautiful Open Landscape.
Hunting and wildlife conservation
Many who work on the farm have a great interest in animals, nature and hunting, and we have carried out a large amount of nature and game conservation efforts. Among other things, we have set up plenty of birdhouses, insect hotels, salt stones and hargo floors. A large part of the farm's open areas are set aside as game fields, and in winter we feed the wild animals.
We have also created several wetlands, so-called nitrogen traps, where both birds, insects and small insects thrive. There is also a game enclosure with fallow deer and mouflon sheep.
Restaurant Ekbacken
The meat that farming and hunting on the farm generates is preserved and served in the restaurant.
For us, venison has a positive connection to nature – it is healthy and climate-smart. The wild animals that are shot at Ulkeröds Gård are not transported long distances, the meat is free from antibiotics, dyes and additives. It is also lean and contains higher levels of minerals, especially iron and zinc.
As far as possible, we also use local suppliers of vegetables and other goodies so that as much as possible of what we serve at the restaurant should be locally produced.
The farm hotel
As a guest at our farm hotel, you can contribute to our sustainability work by hanging up your towel and thus show that you can imagine using it again!
If you have batteries that you wish to dispose of, please leave them at the reception and we will make sure that they are recycled in an environmentally friendly way.
You can also help us and nature by not flushing anything down the toilet seat other than what has passed through the body, except the toilet paper. We have our own treatment plant and recycle the sludge.
Ulkeröd Wingshooting Club
Our clay pigeon range has the least possible environmental impact. We only shoot with steel ammunition and our clay pigeons are Super Star Eco.
