Hiking on Kynnefjäll

A mountain in Bohuslän – close, yet far away

Just a short drive from Ulkeröds Gård awaits Kynnefjäll – a landscape of tranquility, forests and lakes that feels far removed from everyday life.

Here you hike through sparse pine forests, over gentle paths and past mirror-like ponds. It is a place for both movement and reflection – whether you are looking for an active hike or a quiet moment in nature.

Our recommended tour

We highly recommend the yellow loop – a tour that offers some of West Sweden's finest forest trails.

The paths are winding but easy to walk, and take you through varied nature with both open views and protective forest.

There are plenty of places to stop here – for a break, a coffee or just to take in the peace and quiet.

Along the way

The hike starts at the parking lot in Kasebo and first takes you down towards the lake before continuing into the forest.

You pass:

• Lilla Holmevattnet and Kvarnesjön
• Backetjärn – a perfect place for a break
• Vaktarekullen, the highest point of Kynnefjäll

At Vaktarekullen there is an open cabin with a stove and overnight accommodation – a place where many hikers have left their mark in the guest book.

Towards the end of the tour, the landscape opens up again with beautiful views and fine rock formations before you return to the starting point.

This is a hike you do exactly as you want.

Take it as an active tour, or let it be a leisurely excursion with plenty of breaks.
Many of our guests combine the hike with dinner on the farm – or a moment in the sauna afterwards.

• The path is well trodden but the markings are sparse on some sections.
• Some areas may be wet – good shoes are recommended
• Feel free to bring a coffee – there are many nice places to stop.
